A Hanover spring thrill was the tenth anniversary celebration of the Rockefeller Center. In a splendid symposium a panel of former governors from five nearby states discussed their associations with former New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller '30 and the problems of state governments. Oscar Ruebhausen was there. He gave the Rockefeller Center a fine study room and he serves on the Center's board. I drove him to the airport, and lo! he was the only passenger on a regular flight to New York.
Art and Bea MacGregor have scheduled a July family reunion in a unique setting: Anchorage, Alaska, where their son lives. Their twin daughters will come from Wellesley and London, Ontario. They may spot Harry and Kay Wallace, who are slipping away from their Quechee condo and hospital volunteer activity in July for a ten-day voyage to Alaska.
Bob and Nona Kolbe are happy they moved to Denver five years ago. They are enjoying a nearby golf course, bridge, and motor trips around scenic Colorado. They also recently enjoyed a trip to Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Japan.
Massachusetts still harbors many '34s: Bob Newman in Pittsfield, where he's active in lots of community activity; Junie and Ann Kneisel in Boston, their longtime home town; and Ed and Andie Marshall, still enjoying the good weather and beautiful views on Cape Cod for their retirement. They are active gardeners.
Another '34 who has stayed in or near his hometown since our graduation is Roger Manternach. Recently widowed, he plans to stay in Hartford, with his son's family nearby. He would not want to lose the woodworking shop that he's loved using for 40 years.
Jack and Mary Frances Feth celebrated their 50th in February with children and grandchildren present, and now they plan a summer salute, taking the family to Hawaii. Ed and Babs Klee recently visited the Sacramento valley and had brunch with the Feths in their new retirement center. Updating me on life in California, Ed also reported that neighbors George and Giselle Collins had a good cruise recently from Puerto Rico through the Mediterranean to Venice.
I hope you 're having a good summer wherever you are!
