Partly because the mailbag is empty (please dust off your pens and fax machines, guys!), but mostly because it is simply that time, I'm going to devote this column to THE REUNION as in the BIG TWO-FIVE!

As most of you will have noticed, our graying (and occasionally receding) hairlines indicate that we are just now passing through that temporal equinox between graduation and retirement (I recoil from calling it the beginning of the downhill slope). Woodstock's 25th stands as a milestone mercifully passed and beckons us on towards our collective rendezvous with destiny which arrives in June of 1996.

And now that I have that uncontrolled spate of verbosity behind me, on to the important stuff: by the time you read this, a meeting of your class executive committee will (barring natural disaster) have been held in beautiful downtown Hartford, Conn., to make appointments for reunion positions and to begin gearing up the detailed planning and budgeting efforts both for the event itself and the concomitant reunion-giving campaign. Look for the results of those discussions in future columns here as well as in our soon-to-be-more-frequent class newsletters.

Class President Michael Maynard asked me to remind you that volunteers in both the fundraising and social arenas are very much needed and welcome. To join the fun, please get in touch with Michael, Tony Fitzpatrick, or me.

Michael also wants to forewarn all of us that, given our illustrious past performances, the College will likely have high expectations for class of '71 reunion giving. He asks that we all begin thinking seriously about how deeply we can dig over the next two years. Stay tuned, as the details of the target and the payment options will certainly be forthcoming!

Lastly, and on a perhaps less challenging note, we are planning a series of "warm-ups" prior to the 25th. Dick Wooster, your social director, will be joined by bros. Pete Webster, Bob Osborne, and Pete Ruegger in staging several mini-reunions and other excuses for gathering together to train for the big event. Best Regards,
