Roommates are like neighborhood friends from childhood, brothers, sisters, teammates, teachers, coaches, drill instructors, and business partners; they are a part of the "fabric of our lives." Now, like distant cousins, they are mostly memories but indelible ones.

Many of us moved around the campus a bit during our years at Dartmouth, sharing rooms with several classmates. In the words of Ross Perot, "Here's the deal!" If you want to check up on a former roommate, and you don't know where to find him or her, write or call me for addresses and telephone numbers. Give me some news about yourself. Later, let me know what your "roomie" is up to.

I tracked down my former '73 roommates, Ben Wilson (Brown Hall), Bob Norton,Chips Hughes, and Rob Sawyer (Richardson Hall). Ben Wilson is a partner in the Washington, D.C., law firm of Beveridge & Diamond, where he specializes in environmental law. Ben, wife Merinda, and children vacationed last August at Topsail Beach, N.C., within short "artillery range" of Marine Corps base Camp Lejeune, where I work.

Bob, wife Ginger, and kids live in Portland, Ore. Bob is a physician and recently returned from a sabbatical to resume his teaching- staff position in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Oregon Health Science University.

Chips Hughes is senior corporate counsel at Pfizer Inc. in New York City. Chips lives up the Hudson River in Ossining, N.Y., with wife Nancy and family.

Rob and Nancy Sawyer make their home in Marion, Mass. Rob has a general medical practice in New Bedford, Mass.

And now we shift our sights to the bright lights of Hollywood, where Bob Ryan moved from New York in November 1991 to pursue his career in acting. You may have seen Bob, as I did, in a television ad for Geraldo in which our classmate appears as a clergyman who has committed some "unforgivable sin." You have to pay attention to the ad because each face metamorphoses into another during the 15 second spot. Bob tells me that this technique is known in the trade as "morphing." He appeared in an episode of Love andWar which aired on television last April. Bob is very active in The Colony Studio Theater in Silver Lake, Calif., for which the city of Glendale is building a new multi-million- dollar facility. Bob's "day job" is as a law librarian at a firm in Los Angeles, Calif.

Bob told me that Dan Chodos, former producer of the television police drama Hunter (1984—88), has stepped back in front of the camera to resume acting. Dan will be in a film with Dustin Hoffman that has a working title of Outbreak.

I received an announcement earlier this year from Dave Wender that he and Margaret Conner Reeves had married at St. James Episcopal Church in Jackson, Miss. Dave and Margaret have "blended" their families, with Dave's Megan IS, Matt 13, and Danny 11 joining Margaret's son Conner 7 and daughter Mollie 3. Last spring, when Dave was not practicing medicine as a pediatric neonatology specialist, he was supervising the expansion of the kitchen and the construction of a master bedroom in the family home.

From Chicago, Ill., comes word that attorney David Duggan has opened an office for the practice of law, specializing in trials and appeals of complex civil and criminal cases. Dave formerly was an associate with Abramson & Fox and served as a special assistant attorney general for the New York City Criminal Justice System.
