Holiday greetings and cordial wishes for a Happy New Year to all in the clan of Dartmouth '22. As 1994 expires, we want to thank you for your participation in the record-breaking Alumni Fund of last year. Twenty-two contributed $40,356.90 to the fund. Forty-five percent of the contributions came from living alumni; 39 percent came from deceased classmates; 16 percent from widows and other relatives. They add up to 29 people associated with a class out of Dartmouth for 72 years.
No one of us is so naive as to think that $40,000 will substantially or noticeably benefit the College. Throughout the years, though, the class has contributed approximately $11 million for major benefits. The 1994 Alumni Fund contribution is merely another continuing manifestation of our loyalty to Dartmouth. And for that please accept the gratitude of the class of 1922 and the College.
The class offers its sympathy to Mai Clarke, whose wife, Frances, died August 24. She will be missed. She and Mai spent 62 years together. They are the parents of Malcom D. Clarke Jr. '57.
