The mini-reunion began on September 23 as many of us gathered at the Air port Economy Inn in West Lebanon after driving through heavy rain and winds. Reception and dinner at the Tailwind Restaurant at the airport boosted the spirits of all, as 37 of us chatted with old friends and enjoyed a really fine meal.

Saturday morning was gray and chilly, and the outlook for enjoying an afternoon of watching football against the Ivy champ Penn team was bleak, but the threatened rain never arrived. And the Big Green team, despite many miscues, did have a chance to win until the last minute, but could not prevail. After the game and the usual stop at Robert Frost Lane to visit with Bob andTanna Femald, it was on to Pierce's for another excellent dinner, camaraderie, and songs around the piano.

In the meantime, the executive committee held its usual meeting on Saturday morning. Owing to the untimely death of our muchadmired president, Bill Macurda, the nominating committee proposed the following changes: president, Art Toan; VP, BoycePrice; assistant treasurer, Tommy Thompson. All nominations were approved, as was the appointment of Clay Mellor as co-bequest chairman.

I have just received an item from Ruth Doan MacDougall concerning her late father. "Daniel Doan was honored with the Life-time Achievement Award at the 1994 New Hampshire Awards for Outstanding Literary Achievement presented by the New Hampshire Writers and Publishers Project on October 7.

"Accepting the award at the reception in Concord, Dan's daughter Ruth quoted from his 'Fifty Thoughts from Fifty Years,' written on the occasion of his 50th Dartmouth reunion: 'This thought emerges, namely and to wit, successful or not, the years devoted to the art, craft, trade, or hobby of writing may be looked upon as having been spent in a great tradition and enterprise. What did you do with your life? I tried to learn to write.'"

Reunion News: Our big 60th is set for June 10-12, 1996. Chairman Milt Johnston has a group lined up to put it on but can use more help. If you would be willing to assist call him at (603) 526-9485.
