This month (after a brief hiatus) the long-awaited report on the former residents of Lord and Fayer weather Halls. Leading off for Lord is Judge Bill Teahan (Longmeadow, Mass.), who is currently a district court judge in Springfield, and Charlie Brown who is practicing law in Alliance, Ohio. Dave Calder is a physician for the U.S. Agency for International Development and was last reported to be in Kathmandu. Dan Garnett is practicing in Seattle, Wash. (I wonder why these guys are still "practicing"?)
If you ever are in Pocatello, Idaho, and want to buy a car, be' sure to visit Park Price Motor Company for a good deal. Then you can call Ed Jaeger, who is an independent insurance agent in Lancaster, Penn., to take care of your insurance needs. Of course, if you are driving through Western Mass, don't go over 55 m.p.h., or you may have to appear in front of the previously mentioned Judge Teahan. David Combs is the president of a software-development company in New Rochelle, N.Y., and Barry Lawson is the owner of a company that provides meeting facilitation services for groups ranging from boards of directors to public hearings. He has recently moved to Plymouth, Vt., to be closer to what is expected to be the most important meeting of the 20th century: the class of 1964's 35th Reunion in 1999!
More than 40 '64s lived in Fayer weather Hall during our "pea-green" year, and a number of them went on to become "doctors." Jon Herschler is practicing medicine in Sheridan and residing in Big Horn, Wyo., while Kevin O'Brien resides in Portsmouth, R. I., and practices ophthalmology in Fall River, Mass. The influence of living in the shadow of Dartmouth Hall must have affected at least three Fayerweather residents who have gone on to become professors. JohnBlakey (Hickory, N.C.) is a professor at Lenior-Rhyne College teaching Latin, classical mythology, and Roman civilization. He is looking forward to our 35th Reunion, not to mention the planned mini-reunion next year (see Bob Paterson's next newsletter). Also wearing academic robes are SandyWurmfeld and Howard Day. Sandy is a professor of art and chair of the department at Hunter College in New York City, while Howard is a professor and chair of the Department of Geology at the University of California at Davis. Professor Jim Verdier has left his post at that law school in Cambridge, Mass., and is now assistant secretary for Medicaid policy and planning in the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration. (Translation: Jim runs the Indiana Medicaid program.) He is joined in the public sector by Gabe Serenyi (Boulder, Colo.), who is the senior human resources administrator for the city of Fort Collins.
Since I am running out of time and space, I will have to put off further news about the Fayer crew until the next issue. Until then, stay well, have fun, and send in your class dues to Jim Hughes or to me at the following address.
