We learned via JohnnyPage of the passing of KenHugo on April 18. He died after experiencing a three-month coma stimulated by a cardiac arrest. Ken was with us for the big 50th in June of 1989. Kudos go to his wife, Violet, for getting him there for a last Hanover fling.
Johnny's wife, Ellen, whom we must admit is one of our favorites, has had some physical difficulties. But knowing John, I'm sure she's getting first-class attention from him durins these down months.
Although it might well be old news to classmates as a result of Peter Cardozo's previous report on the 55 th Reunion, we think it well worth repeating in this column which might well be read by more than '39ers, that Dick Brooks, our famed marine painter, and the creator, author, and artist of the erstwhile popular comic strip "The Jackson Twins,' was the recipient of the 1994 Man of the Year award presented by the class to one who has contributed significantly to class, college, community, and family.
A final reminder that next month, a bit later than usual, our mini-reunion is scheduled for the Yale game in Hanover, which coincides with Dartmouth Night and its attendant torchlight parade through town, festivities in front of Dartmouth Hall, and the massive bonfire in mid-campus. We'll be gathering at the Sheraton in West Leb. A meeting of the executive committee, with room for all classmates present, is scheduled as usual in the hotel on Friday a.m. with President MacMannis presiding. Be there! It will be a special weekend!
We could use a bit of news, as indicated by the above. And so too, could our newsletter editor.
