Early on the morning of Saturday, September 9, the planned destruction of the Faulkner Building, the main building of the Mary Hitchcock Hospital complex, took place. Paul Young was invited to witness the event and kindly provided the story appearing in the Valley News. The building, of four stories, was completed in 1932 and named for Edward Daniels Faulkner, a benefactor of the College. Four additional floors were added in 1970. The College purchased the property when the DartmouthHitchcock Medical Center moved to Lebanon in 1991 and the building has been idle since, thus the decision to raze it. The 24 members of our class who entered the medical school program (incidentally, the smallest class in the history of the program) were provided as firstyear students the opportunity, unique at the time, to observe firsthand the procedures performed at the hospital.

They will have many memories of their experiences and Doc Fielding shares one with us which involves Hal Frost, the only married member of the class. Frost and Fielding were partners in observing hospital procedures and when they saw their first baby delivered up close Hal stole the show by fainting! It's appropriate to note that Hal became a very successful orthopaedist as well as the father of six children, while Doc became a highly regarded obstetrician and the father of two sons.

Charlie Cusack writes (computes) that "Barbara and I had a pleasant visit with John Muchmore after Labor Day. John came to the West Coast from Oahu, where he resides with his wife Luom, to visit children and grandchildren scattered from Oregon to Southern California. WatWaterbury joined us for a rehash of old times." With John and Wat both—Thayer engineers—there was ample material for reminiscing. Both are retired from successful careers in engineering. John is making good recovery from a post-operative stroke, while Wat, in seemingly disgustingly good health, hikes the Cascades.

Finally, word has been received here of the death of Bill Scholl in April and of the death of Kevin Kenny in August. We offer our condolences to Kevin's widow, Barbara, and to Bill's sister, Jean Shaw.

Be happy, keep healthy, and write if you're not working.
