If you're looking for a new physician, the class of '91 certainly isn't lacking in medical practitioners! Wherever you may be living, chances are there's a doctor near you...Scott Richardson and his brother Ross ('95 USC) celebrated their respective graduations from the University of Southern California this past May. Scott finished his medical training, and is currently doing his specialty training in internal med- icine and radiology at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.
Also making news in the world of medicine, Joseph Glass is spending this year studying medicine in the "North Country" of New York at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, as part of the Rural Medical Education Program. Joe, who is a medical student at SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse, will experience intensive training through this program, which aims at exposing students to practicing in a rural setting in hopes of alleviating the shortage of doctors in such areas.
This past June John Peterson graduated with honors from the University of Washington School of Medicine, and came back East to begin his residency training in internal medicine at Duke University.
My own UGA group buddy Dr. Spiros"Spike" Lazos, is a resident at the Kennebec Valley Medical Center after graduating from Dartmouth Medical School this past May. Spike did a familypractice internship with the Maine Dartmouth Family Practice Residency Program in April of 1994.
Greg Portland was awarded his doctor of medicine degree in May from the University of Virginia. He is doing his residency in orthopedic medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, I11, and plans to specialize in sports medicine.
Medicine is not the only way to make a positive difference, as Kim Goodman has demonstrated. Kim, along with Seung Lee '90, is starting her second year as a Peace Corps volunteer in Gabon.
Maggie Lord was here in New York for a brief visit at the end of August. She is still working in the Silicon Valley, but commuting to San Jose from her home in San Francisco. Glenn Pease just completed a summer internship with Arthur Anderson Inc. in Chicago, and returned to the University of lowa this fall to complete his MBA.
Don't forget about our upcoming Reunion (yes, I am going to be reminding you about this every month until June)! The dates are June 14-16, 1996, so start planning on making your reservations.
