My DAM editor warns us class scribes not to talk about the weather. We write these notes fully two months before the magazine publishes arid you read the column. I'm writing in January and you're reading it in March—or whenever you get around to it. I suspect she thinks that you or I, or both of us, may be too old to cope with the time transition.
Ignoring my editor's admonition, here's what's going on in New England in January. Probably the best fall weather in anyone's memory was followed by a snow-free December (in Boston), some days cold enough to freeze the shallow skating ponds, and now a spring like weekend. I suspect we're going to pay for this good stuff, probably as you're reading this two month old weather report.
Other "news" is that there will be a February mini reunion in, yes, February. I'll probably report on it next month.
The rest comes from Christmas cards. The Webers had a wonderful New England trip before, during, and after our 45th Reunion. The Sours missed the reunion because Tom had to work. The Tredwells made it, and Bob is doing well after surgery. The Williamses, from New London, keep reminding us how dumb we are not to retire to New Hampshire. The Abbes, who also live in New Hampshire, are spending December through April in Florida and Hilton Head. The Tucks seem to love living in Hanover, and they move out only to visit their kids. The Oakleys are hanging in there in Greensboro, N.C.
Weather reports, Christmas cards, and an item or two from the College are not enough to keep this column going. Please send me something to make next month's more interesting.
