Our 35th is about a month away. You've seen our updated class directory and realized it would be fun to see some of the guys. So, now that you really know what's happening that week, it's not too late to call or write or send that green card you've been holding or send a carrier pigeon. Even if it is difficult for you to stay all four days, we have tried to accommodate you by offering a reasonable rate structure. Remember, Tis afar better thing to havebeen there for one ortwo days than not tohave been there at all!

One reason for coming is to meet the class's oldest new father, Rupert Schneider. On January 25 he and his lovely wife, Sharron, became the proud parents of Star Lynn Forrest Schneider. We're talking about a 7-pound, 20-inchlong beautiful girl. She'll be in Hanover on June 12!

The real-estate trade press brought attention to the fact that Les Larsen has been appointed director of property sales for HRE Properties. For many years Les served as realestate associate of David Rockefeller and VP director of Rockefeller Center Development Corp. For those of us who know Les, this kind of upward mobility in his industry is no surprise. He quietly and calmly gets the job done, whatever he does. Congratulations, Les.

Earlier this year the Dartmouth Club of the Rocky Mountains celebrated its 100 th anniversary. The class of '59 has consistently been active there, and was well represented at the gala event by Al Krutch, Tom Seawell, DonSchwayder, Bob Halbert, George Beardslev, and Jim Swanson.

In case you haven't been reading the financial section during the past nine months, Larry Toal is president and chief operating officer of the new Dime Bancorp—a merger of Dime with Anchor Bancorp—with assets exceeding $20 billion. He is responsible for the entire operation of the new bank. Previously, Larry spent many years with Chase in the states and abroad. He and his charming wife, Sheila, will take a break from the enormity of this position to join us at the reunion.

We have learned from the town of Westfield, N.J., that Ed Hobbie has been re-elected secretary of the Westfield Foundation s board of directors. Ed has been practicing law in nearby Cranford since 1965. He is currently the town's municipal court judge, president of the board of governors of Union County College, and a member of the board of directors of the United Counties Trust Co.

His incredible leadership in a broad range of civic endeavors could be a template for the kind of dedication that can make each of us feel better about ourselves a subject of some discussion during our upcoming reunion. Ed, we hope you'll be there to share your experiences.

We have just learned that C. Everett Koop '37, former U.S. surgeon general, will be our reunion keynote speaker, former dean of the College Thad Seymour '49 A will moderate our class panel discussion, and Dave Gavitt will be our master of ceremonies at the class dinner. So we hope that you, as you read this column, will be putting the final blessing on your attendance. See you there.
