Another lousy year of New York (Jersey?) football. Enough said! A letter from Bob Baird, "Always being Johnnie on the spot, and never procrastinating about anything. I'm finally sending a note about a thoroughly surprising and enjoyable event last spring. Out of the blue, Bill Thorworth called me, informing me he was in San Diego on some radiology convention, and would I like to get together. We spent that afternoon at my freshman daughter's league finals track meet and then went out to dinner the next night. The bastard had almost not changed at all! A fleck of grey here and there, and a bum knee that has needed an operation for an eon, but other than that, it was like revisiting with a vision of the past. I had a great time. Bill's youngest is currently a nationally ranked junior tennis player, which has rendered him a semi-bachelor, given that her coach resides in Florida, and she spends all her time down there with mom for a chaperone. It downright waxes one reflective. I couldn't remember half of our 'memories' he brought up...(must have been the beer from my navy days). But at any rate, it increased the likelihood that I'll wander out for the 25th. (Ed. Note: an early leader in greatest distance traveled) He had been such a good friend, and this had been the first time I had seen him in nearly 2 0 years. It was almost like we hadn't skipped a beat. Maybe the rest of you guys will look more your age, and I won't feel like a bald-headed old fart." (Bob you can look for me and all the rest of the BHOFs when you need to feel better.)

Chip "Snake" Carstensen and wife Marilynn had a baby boy, Andrew Robert, on August 31. Jim Gottschalk wanted to know if he'll be called "worm" (he was long and thin). Mike Sack reported sightings of tattoos and green cranial fuzz. Chip and Marilynn quickly stepped in to deny, but report he may be a good rebounder.

Political erratum—Jim Rubens is running against his 1994 opponent's campaign manager, not his own campaign manager for state senator in New Hampshire. Then again by the time you read this, that will be history.

Six more shopping months until Reunion. Have you hugged your reunion chairman today?
