Consider this month a quilt of the drier but still informative clippings from press releases that Dartmouth gets about grand ole '84s. As you've seen we have two new adoptees to the column writing crew, Kathy Krause and Tom Callahan, they still believe they'll get notes from folks in the class to help them write by. Help keep their dream alive. Write today!

"Chris Huff joined Saville Systems this past August as director of business development to help the company expand through key business alliances. Huffs 12year career in the software industry includes hands-on experience in building business alliances and channel organizations at companies including IBM, Meta Software, and Comshare," Business Wire. This was great. I got a snapshot of Chris's career from 1984 onward. I think I'll let the rest of the class writhe in anticipation until Chris sends in his life summary himself. The next piece of news reached me via a printed 8-by-ll sheet but it looks like it came off a URL. "Max "Nuno" Rayner is working in Sacramento, Calif., as a senior policy consultant at the California State Assembly, specializing in financial and political analysis of major pieces of legislation. For any alums with dreams of elected office, Max has one piece of advice: running for office is more dangerous than stunt driving...call a professional first, and do NOT try it at home." I'm guessing this was actually written by Max at . Check it out and add notes about what you're doing that we shouldn't try at home without a professional.

Hey, as I'm working through this pile, here's one that's really interesting. Jim Calmas is the assistant coach for the United States Maccabiah Rubgy team. According to a press release from Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel, "an avid rugby player, Calmas participated at the 14th Maccabiah Games in 1993 as a member of the silver medal-winning U.S. Rugby team. The 33 year-old also traveled to Urugay in 1991 as a member of the U.S. Rugby team." So, first of all, how did he end up being only 33 this year? Second of all, does this mean he's finally gotten people to stop using his college nickname?

Hot off the presses from the New England School of Law is news that Patricia Denn received a juris doctor degree. From the other end of the media spectrum, a Wall Street Journal article told me that Karen Francis' goal is "to figure out how every minivan customer will tell a friend what an unexpected surprise their (Venture) minivan is." That's her goal because she's the brand manager for the Venture. Karen, if you tell me what five of your Dartmouth friends are up to, I'll tell the entire Dartmouth Alumni Magazine readership what an unexpected surprise the Venture minivan is. Deal?

I'll wrap up by summarizing the shortest articles I received, "Gary Seem has been appointed a managing director of Direct Marketing Corp. of America," Princeton Town Topics. "John Rich Jr. has joined the corporate department of the McLane, Garf, Raulerson, and Middleton law firm, Manchester, Concord, and Portsmouth," Boston Globe. You can see a trend here, none of these clippings tell me who's marrying whom and whether they're having children or not.

We'll have to hope Tom and Kathy can beat the bushes for that!
