APRIL 1996 Robert M. Marr,

I was saddened to learn of the October passing of Ave Raube. Since our 65th last June this was our third loss of a classmate (along with Bill OBrion and Stan Davis) who was deeply involved in class activities and rarely missed a Reunion or mini. I was particularly surprised in Ave's case because he and Betty attended the 65 th looking strong and healthy. We offer our sympathy to Betty and urge her to maintain the Raube-1930 relationship.

Speaking of Bill OBrion, throughout my years as secretary, the DAM and I have jousted over how they thought Bill should spell his family name. Even when I wrote in the margin of my class notes: "Capital O, capital B, no apostrophe," it would come back spelled like O'Brien potatoes. I would then catch it in the galley proof, so it was correct by the time it hit your mail box. But the magazine may have thought it had won the final battle in poor Bill's obituary, which appeared (misspelled) in December. Final battle? Not so. I'll be watching this one. Incidentally, Bill's first wife, Lucile, died in 1976. He remarried very happily in the early 1980s, and is survived by Margaret (Peg), who has been an active participant in 1930 reunions. I hope Peg, like Betty Raube, will stay with us.

Finally, the Dartmouth Beta's newsletter reports that Johnny Marsh has a golf handicap of nine. Maybe that accounts for his absence from the 65th. Gone golfing instead.
