My late 1995 survey of 49 randomly selected classmates has produced some interesting data from the 38 respondents. Now all I need is an analysis (via computer, George?). The question about a primary goal for '96 showed an overwhelming desire to improve or maintain health—18 votes. Travel and family reunions garnered three votes each. Next in popularity was "learn about computers" with two whole votes, but maybe that means we '41s already know everything about computers. The remaining goals gaining one or two votes were for better golf, more recreation, and personal projects. A survey question to elicit bouquets or brickbats for today's College brought 20 positive responses and 17 negative. The positive remarks were to the effect that all was well at Dartmouth, President Freedman was doing a good job, and the College was keeping up with the times. The derogatory comments centered around the ultra-liberal administration, too-big administration, PC trustees, a male minority, and loss of Indian heritage. A question as to how many times a month they wore a coat and tie found that most of our classmates had relaxed their dress code in retirement. Seventeen checked 0-3 times a month, nine checked 4-8, and two checked 9-12. Only eight chose 12 or more for their answer, probably working guys. A query about the frequency of dining out each week showed that the wives were perhaps not fully retired, because classmates chose "none" four times, "once" 11 times, and "twice" 12 times out of 35 answers. Not exactly a bonanza for the country club, Chez Phillipe, or McDonald's. Maybe the home cooking by the spouse or '4l himself is too good.

The mail bag and telephone produced some other class notes. Dick Hill, that

hard working man raising funds for our Reunion year, had a nice vacation in Bermuda with Polly in January. Now he and his leadership co-chairman, Unc Richardson, helping head agent John White, deserve our cooperation and support in increasing our contributions for the 55 th Reunion year. The class goal is twice last year's amount. RalphColton in Lansdale, Penn., wrote that his wife, Krysia, had broken her back after a fall from their roof while cleaning leaves from the gutters in late December. Her prognosis is good and she has shown great courage in her recuperation. Ralph's radiation treatment for prostate cancer left him with balance problems, so he was assisting his wife from the ground level in this fall chore.

Stu May reported from nearby Spring Hill, Fla., that he's baching it (in Feb.) while Audrey assists their daughter, Nancy, after a serious car accident damaged her knee and ankle. Easing the pain for Nancy was the news that she was awarded the title of Business Women s Advocate for Connecticut. Stu also noted that he sees Billand Millie Steel and Hans and IreneFroehlich in his area of Florida. And he talked to Dr. George Simpson who was down from Asheville, N.C., for an Elderhostel week in Hernando County, Fla. Looking forward to seeing many of you at the 55th on June 10-12.
