The first large gathering at our Super 60th Reunion was late afternoon on June 10th at Thayer Hall for a reception and dinner and a chance to greet old friends. That evening we were entertained by a chorus of some 50 voices made up of the 193 641-51-56 Alumni Glee Club and the Upper Valley University Glee Club. With only two rehearsals they did an outstanding job with Dartmouth songs and an old fashionedjsing along.
Tuesday morning the Rev. Beverly L. Lindsey (Jim Lancaster's daughter) conducted a moving '36 memorial service in Rollins Chapel. After that, all reunioning classes assembled in Spaulding Auditorium to hear President Freedman report on the current situation at Dartmouth and plans for the future and to answer questions.
After luncheon outside the DOC house our class meeting was held that afternoon. President Art Toan reported on the past five years with a tribute to BillMacurda and on what lies ahead. Bequests and Trusts Chair Bax Fullerton reminded us that this was the first time since start of program 30 years ago that PaulGuibord had not addressed us—and it has taken three people to replace him: Bax, Clay Mellor, and Phyllis England. Art gave thanks to the social group, all those who have done so much to make our gatherings so successful. The nominating committee's slate of officers was presented as follows: pres., Boyce Price; VP, Bill Niss; sec'y., Barry Sullivan; treas., Ray Builter; head agent, Morrie Stein; bequest chair, Bax Fullerton; newsletter editor, FrankKappler; memorial fund chair, Phyllis England; and nominating chair, BobFernald. The entire slate was accepted.
Our speaker at the class dinner that evening was James Wright, dean of the faculty, who touched most interestingly on many events which took place during our undergraduate years. The other big event of the evening was the presentation of awards to Phil Mclnnis's daughters, Nancy and Susan, to celebrate the renaming of the 1936 Woman's Award to The Philip D. Mclnnis '36 Award. Meantime,BobButton's Retreads provided "our kind of music!"
Wednesday morning Eddie Chamberlain's Nostalgia Hour provided interesting films and anecdotes before lunch and departure.
