Well, our tenth Reunion (or ninth if you are concerned with numbers) has come and gone. MidJune is always a wonderful time to be in Hanover, and this weekend was no exception.
Friday morning found several '87s hiking Moosilauke, which was a fabulous way to be reacquainted with the territory and start off the weekend. By the afternoon, people were rolling into their new accommodations in the Fayerweathers (or the River Cluster, for those less fortunate), dragging cribs and laptop computers. The tent between Dartmouth Hall and MidFayerweather quickly became a common destination, as we registered for our loot (great tote bags and T-shirts), saw old friends, ate a huge barbecue dinner, and, later, caught the familiar sounds of Moonrocks.
Saturday morning was a gorgeous one, and '87s strolled Main Street, went running, or scarfed down a quick bagel while the toddlers brawled over the ride on toys.
Then on to the picnic at Storrs Pond—a great afternoon with sunshine, food, and dipping toes into the water. We could barely catch a breath before the fraternity and sorority get togethers, our very upscale cocktails at the Hood Courtyard, and then we were off to the gym. White lights, tablecloths, and bottles of wine made for an elegant evening as we were entertained by the results of our class poll and undergrad singers. Later, our classmates lingered under the stars by the dance in Webster Hall to chat, see, and be seen. Some things never change!
For the truly brave, there was the Reunion Run at 8 a.m. Sunday, followed by a breakfast with the '85s and '86s in the Bema. It was hard to pack up and say goodbye. So many '87s building such wonderful lives. Many, many thanks to cochairs Dennis Goldstein and Theresa Nibi, and their terrific committee, for a fabulous Reunion. And for those who didn't attend, hope to see you at the next one!
And as for me, my term as class secretaryis over. Christen Fitzpatrick O'Connor is your new secretary, and I know she will do a terrific job. I have so enjoyed hearing from you over the past four years write to Christen so we'll continue to know the scoop! Thanks for your support.
