In the documentation notifying me of the loss of Chas O'Neill sent by the Office of Alumni Records was a copy of a letter dated November 21, 1985, he had sent to that office which highlighted his career in writing. A paragraph told of his writing the historical novel Morning Time, for which the screen rights were proposed to the film industry, and of Robert Ryan's having very much wanted to play the lead role in it if a film could be made. There was no such luck, Chas reported, but it was interesting to note that Chas and Bob had made considerable contact back in the late forties.

Received was a letter from Connie O'Neill telling of Chas' last days when he was not enjoying life, and how much he cherished his associations with the Dartmouth family.

The Office' of Alumni Relations announced that Class Officers Weekend will no longer be held, and will be replaced by a new program, Leadership Weekend, including both class and club officers. The first of these is scheduled for FridaySaturday, September 11 and 12, 1998. Why this is not scheduled for an early football weekend when many of the older classes such as ours hold mini-reunions was not explained.

Sorry to have to report the loss of Stephen Zawistoski on June 16, 1997.
