It's Christmastime and you're invited To celebrate until requited, While honoring all '49ers From CA unto the Carolinas. Yes, coast to coast and in between, Our roster's rich—it's always been. So if we miss a name (or two) You're in our thoughts, and whoopdeedoo! Break out the myrrh and frankincense. And toast our great intelligence. As we approach our big five-oh Join in and holler "Ho! Ho! Ho!" Are we older? Sure, but wiser, From Abrahamsen to Bob Zeiser. Come, raise your glass and join the chorus, Sing songs of Christmas to John Borys. Then hit that note and sound that chord For Raymond Bankert and Pete Lord. Let's send a gift (at least a card), To Tommy Swartz and David Ward, Plus Maurie Cole, H. Russell Cort, And Eddie Leede, a real good sport. We'll trim the tree and wrap some toys For Jack Kilmattin and Phil Noyes. Then hang the lights and mistletoe For Mahlon Fox and Abe Shalo. Imagine now a wintry scene With lots of ice for Mike McGean. Of course we'll pray for lots of snow For Baker, George, and Baker, Joe. Did Connie Pensavalle say What he would like on Christmas Day? And how about Russ Hemenway, Plus Andrew Cay and Claude Offray? Will what they want fit Santa's sleigh Along with gifts for Charlie Fay? Well, if it's true that them has, gets, We'll bet the farm on Michael Metz. Today's the Day (both George and Dick) Will say hello to Old St. Nick. Huzzah's the word from one and all, For Johnny Daukas, brother Paul. For Alfred Quirk and Quentin Kopp The turkey's staffed, about to pop. But save a snack, some festive dish, To give to Mike (that's Peter) Gish. Come check the kitchen and the larder, Prepare a treat for ol' John Harder. With lots of drinks we'll chug-a-lug With Donald Scully and Ted Krug. Hey! Make hors d'oeuvres and stock the bar For Ritchie Hunt, Slade Gorton (R.). We have some hearty Christmas joy For Popke (Bud) and Benson (Roy). To Rassias (John) and Seymour (Thad) We are attached—and doubly glad. Now surely there are several needs To recognize both Robert Reeds. The Yuletide's spirit's really neato, Hooraying Raymond Truncellito, Not to mention Munson (Mouse) And Smiths enough to fill a house. Good Bishop Ed MacBurney's here, With sundry Parsons of good cheer. Please fan the Yule log so it burns, To toast the toes of Prexy Stearns, Along with Swifty, Haak, and Proom And all the biggies in the room Including Skip, who ships us news Of Charlie Eaton and Bud Hughes. Now, hum a hymn and chant Noel For Johnny Adler, Frank Stowell. Ho! Corleone! What's up with you? Are you in touch with G. Perdue? Come gather 'round, don't be a stranger, Say Hi! to Dr. Carl V. Granger. In future, lest our mind plays tricks, We'll send a card to Orton Hicks, Plus all the wives (and widows, yes) Who grace our class with loveliness. Of course we clearly must revere The guys who are no longer here And celebrate what's truly fine, With each and every Forty-Nine!
