From mid-November, as I write this, suddenly it's almost March. But for slight miscalculation by the DAM office, I should have been swamped by your tidbits about the women of our class. However, all is not lost. I've been in contact with some of them not too long ago.

At the Class Officers Weekend last May, we. had several: Lari Widmayer and RuthVogt, both Hanoverians, at Bob Keene's great supper party the evening before the C.0.W., and Doris McClory, our bequests co-chair, at the official gatherings and at our dinner the final evening. Our other Hanoverian, Marge Chase, was unable to be with us, but Marge has already cemented her place in 1930 history with the luxurious array of shark-sized shrimp she has provided at recent reunions and minis. Also in attendance at one or more of the weekend's events were Bob's daughter and two daughters-in-law, Gene Magenau's daughter Genie, and two partners who certainly qualify as women of our class, Nancy Hukill and GinnyChambers. I've also heard in recent months from Dot Low, MarthaParkhurst, and Billie Perkins, reporting, I'm sorry to say, on the passing of their spouses. For fame and fortune among our wives and widows, who could achieve any higher honor than those few whom we've sanctified with 1930 Class Awards? There have been four: Liz Doherty in 1985, Ellie French in 1987, Marge Chase in 1990, and Celie French in 1991. Of these I particularly remember Carl Haffenreffer's eloquent eulogy of Ellie French in 1987 and Celie's honestly shocked surprise on receiving hers in 1991.

Finally, our 1930 Carnival Queen was Jeannette Ross of Maplewood, N.J. So, who was she and where is she now?
