Dear Classmates: The countdown to our 40th Reunion continues and shortens. The dates are June 9 through 12 and there's still time to sign up by calling Mike Tompkins at 1-800-526-9583, ext. 5821.
Many classmates have given unstintingly of their time and efforts to assure that we will have a good time with plenty of variety and lots of opportunity to connect with each other, to get a new sense of the College and its mission as we close in on the new millennium plus play some sports, have some fun, and enjoy Hanover in its beautiful June wrappings.
Dan Goggin, with able assistance from Bob Marchant, has lead the effort to make this reunion the best ever. Our own DaveOrr, who is Mr. Reunion, has given us special help. We are very fortunate to have him in our class as well as the college's primo alumni man. Mike Tompkins has done a great job of heading up the attendance effort and has had good support from many classmates including LarryCalvert, Hanny Mason, and, of course, Tom Schwarz, whose long-term efforts as our newsletter editor are most remarkable. Tom's got to be one of the longest serving people in that critical post.
Bob Shirley has been lining up a sport schedule with able assistance from CharlieSellman.
The biggest job was tackled by JoeStevenson, who is leading our efforts to make a truly significant class gift as part of our 40th Reunion. Joe has had aid and assistance, of course, from our head agent, Randy Aires and a great group of agents. Special thanks are also due Bob Loverud, treasurer for the Reunion, a tough task to keep budgets in control and give us a great time at a modest cost.
Jack Cramer has put together what sounds to me like the most stimulating seminar possible with a consideration of some of the most difficult ethical issues of our time and Dave Cook, on the lighter side, has put together a package of musical entertainment that will have us all tapping our toes. The Reunion banquet is being planned by George Johnston, and HerbRoskind is planning a class film and or other special activities and Dick Mann is putting together a memorable souvenir of our Reunion. Bob Macdonald is our utility player with good ideas on many topics and, of course, Clark Griffiths, our prez, has made many significant contributions through his close connection with the Hanover and Dartmouth College scene.
It's a great crew putting together a great Reunion for the great class of '57. I hope you'll all join in the fun.
Sincerely,
333 Red Acre Road, Stow, MA 01775; (508) 897-5297
