We have two upstarts with start-ups this month. Dudley Kay made his first few bucks with his new company— SciTech Publishing Associates. He's hoping for bigger payoffs with two "mega-projects" currently in the works. One is a telecommunications desk reference with an option CD in the deluxe edition and its own Web site for data updates..The other is a major text and reference on airborne radar and remote sensing that comes out of Hughes Aircraft. Either one a fine addition to anyone's coffee table.

Norm Jacobs, a.k.a. El Presidente, has left his position at Eastpak and purchased a company called Spirit Products. This new outfit distributes insignia merchandise to college bookstores throughout North America. Norm recently moved the company from Michigan to Haverhill, Mass.

On Monday, June 2, Dick Glovsky, a.k.a. the former El Presidente, will be honored by the Anti-Defamation League of New England at the David A. Rose Civil Rights Award Luncheon. Usually I would make some snide comment about my old friend but this award is too prestigious and his work too important to do that. However, next time....

An elite group of the class executive committee has been working feverishly on our Class Project (yes, it is important enough to rate capitalization). For those of you who pay attention, you are aware that for the past few years part of our class dues has been earmarked for a class gift to the College. We think we finally have a strong possibility for a gift that we as a class can support. There are financial considerations along with the usual nuts and bolts of such a transaction that we have to iron out but we are hopeful of success. There will be more information provided as things move along.
