Wedding bells rang in San Francisco for TonyFenwick and Dana Cox on January 2S. Tony is a lawyer at Latham & Watkins. ShepKoppwas married to Liza Ryan '87 last August and resides in Venice, Calif. Shep is a deputy public defender for the County of Los Angeles. Mary Frances Spatola married Josh Sabo (Wesleyan '9O) last May and now lives in a suburb of Albany, N.Y.
Mary Frances practices health law for a trade association which represents home care providers. She also told me that SarahMetzger is a "talented staff writer for the Albany Times-Union and wrote an excellent series on the Attica prison and the uprising there 20 years ago, which is sure to garner her a Pulitzer Prize." DavidCogswell was appointed assistant vice president-consumer credit manager at Vermont National Bank, where he oversees the processing and decisioning of consumer credit and maintains the bank's credit scoring system and automated documentation, system. So, that's what one does with an ECY major! Jeff Healion signed off from the University of Kentucky in December to go on safari. Speaking of flying, Phil Burrow is a pilot for United Airlines and doesn't even mind getting up at 0230 in the morning. He kept his feet on the ground long enough to marry Captain Sarah Deal last April. Sarah is a pilot for the U.S.M.C. In December Jayne DaigleJones announced the arrival of baby #4, Daniel Kevin Jones, who weighed in at nine pounds, 12 ounces.
Heidi Erdrich is teaching writing and Native-American literature at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. Heidi's first book of poems is titled Fishing for Myth and is officially due out in April. The publisher is New Rivers Press in Minneapolis. The collection won a Minnesota Voices Award in 1995. Heidi's sister Angie '87 painted the cover art. Oh, and please note that she writes under and uses Heid E. Erdrich (somewhere along the way she lost the extra "i").
Deborah (Kruter) Eckberg and Chuck welcomed their second son, Noah Benjamin, on January 5. He'll keep brother Joshua company. Ken Loftus recently became an optometrist with the navy and is based at the Bethesda National Naval Medical Center in the DC area. "Talk about a place full of vision problems," Ken wrote. Despite terrible weather, PaulHodesh opened The Emerging Arts Gallery in Cambridge on December 6. This gallery brings together a wide selection of quality, original artwork from up-and-coming local artists, all at reasonable prices. Last fall, after almost 10 years with Goldman Sachs, Michael McTernan took a job with Deutsche Morgan Grenfell in N.Y. To top it all off, he married JulieMcGrath. Grace (Jung) Lee lives in Ross Township, Pa., and joined the association of St. Francis Medical Center, Bloomfield, in the practice of dermatology and dermatologic surgery. John Mungovan has a medical practice in Fall River, Mass. Last year, John was granted medical staff privileges in radiology at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Melissa (Baten)Caswell, her husband Lee, T'89, and 16-month-old Lainie are still in Palo Alto. Melissa recently joined Cadence Design Systems, where she is the director of corporate marketing. Karen Blodgett and Matt Landau live just around the corner from the Caswells. Chris Keating is quite busy these days. In addition to his family duties as husband to Kiki and father of Carl 2 1/2 and Evyn 1, Chris manages two N.H. public defender law offices—apparently a practice never before tried. BurgieHoward is still at Colgate University and cheers for the Green when they're in town. Says Burgie, "It doesn't make me too popular for a while, but that is a risk I am proud to take." Go Big Green!
