Classmates, what were your thoughts as you read the 'March Dartmouth Atumnae Magazine? Were you disturbed, satisfied, pleased that Dartmouth entered the.modern age when President John G. Kemeny made the bold move backed by a mathematical formula to make Dartmouth a coed college by developing the Dartmouth Plan? If you read the issue carefully, including the Class Notes of the coed classes, you will see what a great contribution gals have made to Dartmouth and the world. I think we missed much that would have added to our education and it wasn't possible for our daughters to have the privilege of a Dartmouth education. The subject would be one to discuss cuss at The Super 60th Reunion in June. Kendra Stearns O'Donnell, the principal of Phillips Exeter Academy and the daughter of our Kendall and Kate will be one of our key speakers.

Few Dartmouth men have not visited Palmer Stadium for a Dartmouth Princeton football game. Many memorable games, the "12-man" game in the snow, the games deciding the Ivy championship, and this year's win giving Dartmouth the Ivy title and a perfect 10-0 season were all played there. It was a nostalgic day, for this was the last game played in Palmer Stadium before the demolition of this historic structure for a new stadium. It was also the last time we would speak a few words with Hank and Barb Pierce, who left the game early to attend the postgame party at the Dartmouth Club of Princeton tent. On January 20 Hank suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage and died on January 28. In a conversation with Barb today, she told me that the Dartmouth Club of Princeton has established the Henry Wilder Pierce Scholarship Fund in his memory.
