We're still enjoying pleasant vibes from that fine Reunion the Merry McDonalds produced. Orchids to them for sending to the entire class copies of the memorial service paper along with the magnificent prayer of Bob James and your correspondent's memorial homily.

Helen Krosnik, Nancy Elliott, and Ray Theriault have sent the Macs appreciative messages. It was a moving experience to read the names of our cohorts who are no longer with us.

One touching adjunct of the Reunion deserves notice. In spite of recovering from a broken leg, Kay Metcalfe brought her son, Tris 3rd, and three grandchildren to the celebration in Hanover as substitute attendees for her husband, Tristram, who had died last year. She also brought along group photos of Branson Oesterheld and Tris, taken in 1933 and 1958, to add to the notable collection of memorabilia displayed in the Hayward Room.

We wish to acknowledge welcome notes from Athena (Brackett) Snow, citing "pleasant memories of Buster; Beatrice Reed, noting a grandson "recently graduated from Dartmouth"; an d FredHelmholz, who had heard from WalterSnead a short time back.

A visit to Hanover impresses an octogenarian with the sparkling condition of the plant, the status of the Webster Hall archive renovation, the smartness of a number of convenient restaurants; the removal of Mary Hitchcock Hospital; the spread of population in varied, sometimes impressive housing up Balch Hill, out to Etna, Lebanon, and Norwich; the incessant traffic passing the Inn corner; the cultural richness of Hopkins and Hood, the vast increase of graduate degrees (over 1,200 enrollees), which indicates we're a "university" whether we like it or not; the high quality of the students we met.

The recent scheduling by the Alumni Relations Office of a leadership conference of volunteers is a welcome demonstration of interest in alumni opinion which for too long has been woefully lacking. Hurray!
