Wayne Hobin writes, "The downside of visiting Alaska in June is it's like pulling a three week all-nighter. Kiki and I were well above the Arctic Circle doing some 'floating' in the Brooks Range, where the sun was up all the time. It was difficul to tell the mosquitoes from the moose. Besides the Arctic, we hit the Kenai Peninsula Fairbanks, and did a lot of chartered flying in the 'afternoon chop' with the local pilots. We highly recommend Kantishna in the Denali Wilderness area. Only about 100 beds are available there, and no unescorted hiking is allowed—not to mention no driving. The bus trip is six hours from the train stop, giving us time to observe all sorts of flora and fauna along the way. We have some great shots of grizzlies, wolves, and foxes as they are not afraid of the buses."

Mickey Stuart is "still in Dallas, living as a single dad with my ten-year-old daughter Katherine (a.k.a. Kitty), who's doing great in the fourth grade: soccer, piano, gymnastics, and Girl Scouts. With any leftover time, I am running my wine import company, which wholesales wine from France, with particular focus on the airlines. We supply most of the French wine to American Airlines, and some other carriers. Also working with hotels and restaurants. Latest development, which will amuse the Wall Street titans of the class, I've entered SMU's weekend executive M.B.A. program. It's designed for late bloomers like me who have a job and a life. As an English major, I'm enjoying learning some practical techniques for running a company, after having re-invented the wheel so many times. I see a core of local alums from a variety of classes. Most especially enjoyed playing golf in Houston last May with former prez George Bush, at the invitation of classmate Terry Adams." (See photo on website!)

Andrew Hodgdon's "son Stephen started ed his freshman year at the University of Montana in Missoula in August. He intends to study wilderness biology in the forestry department. After he got himself registered, he took me fly fishing. A first for me." Malcolm Jones and wife, Karen, "had a fan Labor Day weekend party and were joined by classmates Willis Newton (and Peg) and Dick Wenzel (and Ruth) plus Marc Victor '72 (and Georgette) and Adrien Mally '76."

Tony Owens "is enjoying medicine more than ever as a faculty member at the Department of emergency medicine at Maine Medical Center in Portland. A number of our residents are DMS grads and capable clinicians. Norm Webber and I got out to Yellowstone this summer to sample the fine cutthroat fishery, and by the time you read this, we'll have also gone to the College Grant for grouse season. I had the great good fortune to share a couple of moments with Tom Carey when he was returning from a Maine vacation to Ohio. I wish at the time I had known that my freshman son at Colgate was going to pursue crew—I would have had him and Tom out on the water. The invitation is always open to stop by for some of the finest striped bass fishing in New England."
