Merle Adelman writes to let us know that our goal for the 1998 Alumni Fund is $225,000 which should be a breeze if we keep on your 1997 pace of $209,405! So, pledge early (and often). We'd like to ask a minimum of $80 (for 1980) for those who have not given in the past and $l980 for those considering a leadership pledge. Remember that payments can be made over the course of the year by credit card or checks.
Katherine Laud has been named to the board of directors of First Morris Bank. Katherine has dedicated much of her time to local community concerns such as assistant treasurer/finance vice president for the Junior League as well as director of the Jersey Battered Women's Service. Born and raised in Morristown, Katherine continues to live there with her husband and three children.
Chuck Jarrett has managed to make a living enjoying one of his favorite leisure time activities. As an attorney at the Cleveland law firm of Baker & Hostetler, Chuck works for their client, Major Baseball Properties. He is responsible for coordinating all the anti-counterfeiting efforts surrounding high profile baseball. In short Chuck has had to attend every significant baseball event for the last decade, patrolling the parks for vendors selling unlicensed MLB apparel and souvenirs. Way to go Chuck!
The San Diego Super Bowl was the scene of a mini Dartmouth reunion for DavidOsborn, David's ten-year-old son Alex and David's dad, John Osborn '45. All three are Packer fans, but he event was extra special because David and son traveled from Sydney, Australia for the visit. Well, David, now that we're on to your affinity for traveling long distances for family reunions, we'll be looking for you at our 20th in 2000.
Frank Batten is taking over as chairman of Landmark Communications Inc., a Norfolk, Va., based media company whose holdings include The Virginian-Pilot and The Weather Channel. Since 1995 Frank has been executive vice president with responsibilities for new ventures and new media as well as president and publisher of The Virginian-Pilot. Frank takes over the chairmanship from his dad, Frank Batten Sr.
Alexander Frank has been promoted to managing director, finance, at Morgan Stanley & Co., Inc.
Daniel Dross has been promoted to senior vice president at Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst Inc. The company has offices in Dallas, Texas, and Mexico City.
