Happy spring, everyone! Congratulations to Ty Tengan who is marrying Ku'ulei Reyes '98 in Hawaii this summer. And, congrats to Ben Sweetser who is engaged to Michelle Gregg '99. By die time this comes out, Cristina Kuechmannn may have been sent to the Persian Gulf. At the end of February she was awaiting word in Hinesville Ga., where she was serving as a platoon leader in the 26th Forward Support Battalion (3rd Infantry Division). Members of her division had been shipped out right before she wrote, and she was expecting to be called upon in the near future. Best of luck, Cristina. Crstina will be looking for a roommate to live with in or near Savannah. E-mail her at with any info.
JC Martinez recently wrote that he finished up classes at Dartmouth this fall. He planned to head west for the winter and get a job that allows him to snowboard as much as possible. After that he planned to be a TA in Florence for the art history FSP. JC's going to Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minn., in the fall.

Speaking of '97s overseas, I got an e-mail from Najam "Star" Haider recently. I think he was in England checking out Oxford for next year but about to go to Damascus, Syria. Craig Whitmer, who is a New Media Analyst for Strategic Interactive Group in Boston, wrote that Stefan Lanfer has been living in Kenya for the past several months, where he will remain through the spring. Stefan's doing ministry work for the Navigators, a Christian organization. AshleyGraves is in a neighboring town, doing environmental studies work.
Sarah Johnston recently sent a '97 update. She and Michael Ellenbwrg are both at NYU law school. Alireza Odouli is at UCLA law school, and his former Dartmouth roommate, Alex Hung, is at Northwestern Law School. Sarah said Michele Lamberti is living in New York and working at a fund-raising organization. Antonia Golianopoulos is also living in NY and working in fund-raising. Antonia will be off to law school next year. Sarah wrote, "Kim DiTomasso, whom I recently saw, is an assistant to NY city parks commissioner Henry Stern. She has her foot in the political door, so to speak. (I'm trying to convince her to go to law school.) Finally, Elizabeth Larsen is living in Boston (and NOT going to law school), and she is working in a consulting firm. She is still mourning her thirdround rejection in the Seattle Real World auditions."
Bill Hinsdale recently sent a New York update. He lives in New York City on the Upper West Side with Carolyn Zern and Suzanne Breselor. Bill is an investment banker at Lehman Brothers in the media and telecommunications group, sitting one cube over from Hilary Kaiser. ChrisWhalen and Josh Pristaw also work there. He said a bunch of '97s were together in the city for New Year's Eve for a huge dinner and party, including Rob koelzer Jonathan Selva, Antonia Golianopoulus,Michele Lamberti, Carolyn Zern, JayHanlon, Jacob Waldman, and SarahGrow.
Bill wrote that New Year's Day he and Sarah Grow took a vacation together down to Colombia, visiting friends of Sarah's and enjoying the nightlife of Bogota and Cali while being careful to duck stray bullets. Cindy Goodwin also recently headed south, to Costa Rica to do World Teach for a year. Christina Hallenbeck, who is working at General Mills in Atlanta with JaredAugello, said Cindy is in a tiny village called Turrialba that has only one phone in the entire town. "She is sure to have.some adventures, and if anyone is down there, I'm sure she'd be happy to see a friendly face," Christina wrote.
Take care, and remember to sign up for your Dartmouth alumni e-mail addresses!
