As we head into winter's darkness, we have many fine memories of the October Homecoming fete in Hanover, N.H., and the Ascutney Mountain Resort in Brownsville, Vt. The bonfire Friday evening was diminutive, but the turnout and spirits were not. (We were strolling around the Green Friday afternoon, and one of the security guards there told us that the contractor who provides wood for the conflagration could only deliver one third of the usual amount. "Don't blame the class 0f'02," he cautioned.) Happily, the parade, Glee Club, band, talks, and conflagration were superb. We reconvened afterward at a Hanover bistro for fat-free pizza and non-alcoholic beer.

On Saturday morning the other president, Charlie Giersch, conducted the class meeting. Several wives popped in briefly, prompting Gene Gasbarro to quip, "Quick, guys, put away the projector." Our lovely ladies didn't really care whether we were watching flicks or considering weighty class of 1962 business. They just wanted to inform us that they were heading off to Simon Pearce and The Vermont Country Store, credit cards at the ready. They returned, beaming, after we guys to the serious matters of state. It's nice to see our partners having as much fun as we

Saturday afternoon brought beautiful weather and a not-so-pretty football game as Dartmouth just squeaked out a win over Yale. That evening there was a fine reception and dinner at the Ascutney Mountain Resort, and we visited with some classmates whom we haven't seen for a long time. JoeSackett and his wife, Sheila, showed up. They are both neuroradiologists and have recently retired from their work in Wisconsin and moved to Florida. One of Joe's friends from internship days at the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital was Coralie Shaw, now a radiologist at YaleNew Haven Hospital. Her spouse, BillQuirk, while not a radiologist, is even higher on the electromagnetic spectrum, having gained the title "doctor the hard way—by earning a Ph.D. Bill is principal of William G. Quirk Seminars in Connecticut. Tom Hall and his lovely wife, Barbara, were on hand as well, having relocated to the Hanover area. I often wonder how many classmates might take a flyer, show up for these events, and have a surprisingly pleasant time. From personal experience, I know it could happen.

It was good to hear from Dan Hadlock, who connected via pen, paper, and postage stamps, after we listed an e-mail address with a typo. Dan was inquiring about the London-England-Ireland trip coming up this summer, and I see that he is now signed up for the class gathering in July. Ben Read was named president of Whitetail Realty Marketing Inc. in Pennsylvania. After Dartmouth Ben earned a master's degree in business administration from the Wharton School of Finance. He has had considerable experience in stock brokerage and real estate, including recreational development. Stuart Heydt made the newspapers for his substantial success as a Central Pennsylvania hospital administrator.

One final note: This year let's finish funding a most worthwhile class projectThe Class of 1962 Faculty Fellowship!
