Ah, memories of freshman year in Wheeler Hall...working on our award winning Winter Carnival snow sculpture, doing battle with the denizens of Richardson in the perennial water fight, playing on spirited intramural teams, sunning on Wheeler "beach"...

Mark and Rick thought that only a true Wheelerite could do justice to our stories and they asked me, Corinne Heyes, to step in for this column. A great many Wheeler Dealers answered the call for current detes so I'll get right to it. Marie Connolly wrote: "My friends from Wheeler freshman year are among the Dartmouth friends I see most often, John Dolan, David Andryc, Ann(Bailey) Melanson, Matt Hoffman, and Howard Tung (at least at weddings). We were last seen together at Howard Tung's wedding to Rachel Powell two years ago.

Believe it or not, I still work for the same institution, although thanks to bank mergers, what was Lincoln First Bank is now The Chase Manhattan Bank. I now manage underwriting for Chase Business Credit Corp. upstate and am president of the local Literacy Volunteers affiliate, and, yes, I still live in Pittsford, N.Y., too.

John Dolan, who I met freshman year because he was the only other person in Wheeler from the Rochester, N.Y., area, has returned to Rochester as well. John is a practicing child psychologist who also teaches AP psychology at The Harley School, a local private school, and coaches school teams in basketball and Softball.

Ann Bailey Melanson resides in Wellesley, Mass., with her husband, Mark, and their two sons Taylor 8 and Jared 4. Ann's easy to keep in touch with she's had the same telephone number since graduation." Undoubtedly Marie and friends will converge at Dave Andryc's Oct. 9 wedding to Mary Itsell, an alumna of Pine Manor College. Dave works on his own providing advice to small, growth companies and helping several entrepreneurs to raise capital for their new ventures, and still squeezes in not-for-profit activities. Matt Hoffman was recently featured in a newspaper article for his for-profit activities. The article focused on his entrepreneurial initiatives as co-owner, president, or partner of six businesses. Matt's newest venture is co-ownership of Premium Curbside Valet, a valet parking service at Logan Airport. Somehow Matt has also had the time to raise four children!

On the subject of children, I received an e-mail response from Lisa Campney's electronic secretary that she is on maternity leave through the end of August. Congratulations, Lisa!

George Huntington reports that he works as an engineer (despite getting scared out of engineering freshman year, he went back into it at the U. of Wyoming in 1991) for the Wyoming Department of Transportation in Cheyenne. "The easy part is figuring out how to make roads. The hard part is making the bureaucracy work in a fairly efficient manner." He is awaiting the results of the PE exam and hopes to be a licensed civil engineer within a few weeks. He relaxes in laid-back Wyoming by playing soccer in an adult league and coaching junior high soccer. That's all I could cram in this column. More on Wheeler Hall next month!
