The good class of 1934 had its mini-reunion weekend in the Hanover Inn on September 24 and 25 and there were 30-some-odd classmates, wives, widows and friends in attendance—including two fine grandsons: Douglas, belonging to GeorgeMagrath, and Tommie, belonging to HankBryan.
Not only did we have a wonderful weekend but we were all so happy to hear the news of the marriage of Em Day and Gerry Scherman that Friday morning; champagne and a wedding cake were part of the festivities at dinner Saturday evening. At the meeting held Saturday morning after a very nice continental breakfast, Bill Judd was asked to report on the Leadership Weekend held the weekend before our mini. Bill reported that our class received special recognition awards, one of which read "among the 'older'—that is 'more mature'—Dartmouth classes, 1934 stands out as one of the most active and generous in the history of the College. In the recent Alumni Fund drive, 1934 contributed to Dartmouth the princely sum of $355,000. A record for any class 65 years after graduation, and a figure that represents 69 percent class participation. Dartmouth is very proud of your long-time loyalty, of your efforts and affection, and is delighted to single you out for this 1999 special recognition award."
Jack Tobin expressed thanks to Gerry and Em Day for arranging this great weekend, which included dinners Friday and Saturday evenings in the Hanover Inn and a box lunch for the game.
