A blustery greeting to you all—at least that's how we remember Midwestern Marches. Recently ran down Jerry Copleston in his hometown of Coxsackie, N.Y. We had a fine time visiting about mutual friends in that area, including Bobo Russell. A July 1944 campus arrival, his service experience lasted a bit longer than most of us so he returned and bonded more with '5O than he had with his old Crosby Hall friends. He took to civil engineering after graduation and spent most of his career troubleshooting construction problems for the Bureau of Construction on the N.Y. Thruway. He and Joyce have two kids. They decided to see America shortly after his retirement and drove 12,000 miles in 40 days. Admit that they were a little too condensed and would like to go back and see more, particularly some of the national parks in the West. They do get to the Stuart, Fla., area for four months in the winter and could be clients for a mini-reunion there.
Ginny and Bud Gedney dropped off the scope for a while because Loren Spademan found a buyer for their beautifully restored home at the side of the Mascoma River in Canaan, N.H-the site of the best brunch in the Northeast—to Bradford in the People's Republic of Vermont. Their new home is 35 years old but built of old materials. Bud figured he'd keep busy replacing the rare window glass and hardware but they do have central heating. The interior re-design should be duck soup for their experienced hands. And, it should be easier for Bud to make the monthly class meetings at the Norwich Inn. He maintains a healthy interest in College and class affairs, co-managing the fall mini-reunions in Hanover with JohnHatheway.
Marv Axelrod has been designated the class's Alumni Council representative for die next three years. With some important issues ahead, we're pleased to have him there. His work as class agent with BillScott was record-breaking again this past year.
Former international banker Tom Davis doesn't get around too much any more but, unlike most of us, did his world travel when he and Sally could really enjoy it. He held down a high rank at the First National of Chicago and spent his whole working career there. They are long-time residents of Hinsdale, I11, in the western suburbs of the Windy City. Tom says their three kids are all doctors of one thing or another and he thought he'd be educating them forever. They are spread from Ireland to Seattle.
You are encouraged, again, to join the class e-mail network and scan the homepage at www.dartmouth.edu/alumni. Pete Foster keeps the page fresh and welcomes any suggestions or help from you who have more sophisticated know-how than he does.
Margie and I should shortly be off for some R&R in Greece and London. See you next month.
