When Joe Roberts parked his class secretary pen, he and Ruth took up traveling. If you are planning your summer vacation, you may wish to consider British Columbia. Joe's account is so glowing that it sounds like an advertisement. When they were in the East last fall, Joe and Ruth took in the Harvard game. He asked the fellow next to him if he was class of '32, whereby the fellow responded, "Do I look that old?"

Ben Cowden has supplied us with the news of the recent publication of ReulDenny's collected works under the title of Feast of Strangers. The Honolulu Advertiser not only gave it a rave review but also said "When Reul Denny died in 1995, the University of Hawaii community lost one of its best minds and finest writers."

The Alpert clan gathered to celebrate Milt's 90th. The family included son Bruce '69 and grandsons Seth '93 and Sean '01 and Jeremy '95. That's a lot of green in one family.

Mentioning publishing, Ed Marks' new book will be published in September and focuses on the posters used by the United Nations since 1946.

Meanwhile down on Cape Cod, JohnFish, who recently lost his wife, Barbara, leads a pleasant, unhurried life in Eastham. There he is frequently visited by his nephews, one of whom is his namesake. You may have seen the name of the younger John Fish in national news media from time to time. He is a Marine salvage engineer who has developed a skill for locating specialized communications equipment in planes that have crashed at sea. One of them was the TWA Flight 800 that went down off Long Island.

Charlie Odegaard died November 14, 1999. During his 15 years as president of the University of Washington, he brought the institution to new standards of excellence and unprecedented growth. He still is recognized by the entire national academic community for his achievements. His obituary will follow in a later DAM issue.
