I'd have a lot more news if some of you vacationing '46ers left me your wintertime address. But I found a few still braving the chilly north. GeneBokor back in New Jersey for a few days interrupting his winter stay in Sarasota, Fla. But"The Boke" gave up a week of that to go to Palm Springs, Calif., where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Point of Purchase Advertising Institute. I'll tell you about that when I see you." How you people get around. Found Bill Graulty in Winchester, Mass. Bill is mostly retired, still doing a bit of estate and trust work. Bill had been the trust officer for a Hartford bark until '76 then went into private law practice in West Hartford until 1999. He inquired about Dave Weld, and I caught Dave on the eve of his departure with wife Jean for a couple of months in their North Palm Beach, Fla., home. Dave is still at it in the lumber business, assisted by a son and daughter. Dr. MartyMarino had sent me the sad news of the death of Dr. John H. Carter on January 27.1 called Marty and he told me that he's still traveling about the country checking up on your friend- ly neighborhood hospitals. He works for a group that passes on the accreditation of health care organizations. I imagine he's a popular favorite with hospital trustees. Marty's long retired from medical practice but says he can't stand doing nothing. Funny, I never experienced such a feeling and I've done nothing for years. Talked to "Whitey" Campbell out in Minnetonka, Minn. He's still working in the investment business and looking forward to a golf outing in the near future in Florida. He'll look up Dale Armstrong in Naples while down there. One of the reasons I called "Whitey" was because Reg Pierce had told me of the death in February of Billy Riley, and of course he and Whitey played hockey together at Dartmouth. Billy Riley was the greatest college hockey player I ever saw. Reg imparted some further news, including that Hanover has about 4 feet of snow. He told me that Jack and Marian Ulrich are off to Del Ray Beach, Fla., for vacation and lots of golf. Guess Jack couldn't putt very well in Hanover with 4 feet of snow. And on a social note, Reg advises that our BobSandoe will wed "Teddy" Lawrence in Hanover come this May 20. Probably be some doings at Pierce's Inn thereafter (feel like I've become the society editor).

With sadness I must report the death of Benjamin F. Homan, in addition to the deaths of Dr. John H. Carter and William J. Riley, whom I wrote about above. We extend our deepest to their families.
