50th Reunion: June 9,10 and 11. As you read this, there are less than two months until reunion time. Those still on the fence about whether to come better get hopping (off the fence, that is). At this writing, it looks like about 250 classmates will be there, by far the largest reuning class ever, and it's sure to be a memorable occasion for those of us who attend.

The 50th Reunion Book, a whopper of 400-plus pages, should be in your mailbox in a couple of weeks. Compiled and edited by Joe Medlicott with an assist by this scribe, it will contain biographical sketches and photos submitted by 350 classmates, memories of the 1946-50 era, obituaries of departed classmates, many great photographs of Dartmouth and Hanover, Dartmouth songs and other good stuff. Financed solely by class dues, it will be mailed to all class members and widows who are on the class and College's "active" list. If you don't receive one and want one, e-mail or write me or Joe.

The February mini-reunion and the meeting of the class executive committee, chaired by president Bob Kilmarx, was well attended by 22 classmates. Reunion chairman Joel Leavitt gave us the details on how plans were shaping up and, thanks to the many hours and hard word by Joel and his reunion committee, things are looking good. Fizz Nichols reported on the state of the class treasury, which is in fine shape as usual, including the special fund set up to pay for the 50th Reunion book. Fizz also reported that the class endowment fund, established about IS years ago to receive special contributions, has exceeded our goal of 100,000. It was later voted that the fund would be turned over to the John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding, with the stipulation that it would be used for Great Issues-like projects under the aegis of our class officers.

Len Matless, who along with DaveTaylor runs our mini-reunions, discussed the plans for the weekend and announced that the fall mini would be on the weekend of October 6-8. Dave and Newc Eldredge passed around the galley proof of a book, the preparation of which the class has sponsored, on the trees on the Dartmouth campus. It's a beautifully done work and you'll get a copy along with the reunion book.

In the absence of class agent BudGleason, the status of this year's Alumni Fund and especially the 50th Reunion gift to the College was presented by BillCarpenter and Jacques Harlow, co-chairmen of reunion giving. You'll hear a lot more about this in the future because the class of 1950 already has exceeded its selfestablished goal of $3 million, more than double that of any other class in the history of the College!

Reminder: If not done yet, get your room reservations and other paperwork completed and mailed pronto for what's bound to be a millennial 50th Reunion.
