Hard to believe, this could be my last column. My last chance to grace the parchment of these hallowed pages. Oy vey!!! Seems that everybody is saving their secrets for our reunion tent. Had to squeeze hard for this news. Greg Anderson ran a fire department, kept a corporation technologically connected and launched his own business. So he seemed a good choice for the job of making sure Broomfield's (Colorado) employees and computers work well together. Greg has been hired as director of information technologies, overseeing the operations of the computers used by the 400 or so employees of the new city-county. He will also manage the expansion of computer services for the new government, which will be created on Nov. 15,2001. In addition to performing its usual city functions, Broomfield will be required to electronically store motor vehicle, property, voting and jail records. Greg will be a good guy to know if you lose your Get Out Of Jail Free card.

After years of building a niche in the business world, Greg said he figured it was time to take on the challenge of helping to piece together Colorado's first new county in nearly 100 years. "It just looked like an exciting venture," Greg said. "You don't get much of a chance to start something from the ground up." Greg and his family live outside Broomfield in the foothills above Boulder.

Margaret Avril Lawson has been named to the executive committee at Cincinnati's downtown law firm of Taft, Stettinius & Hollister. Margaret, of Hyde Park, is a partner in Taft's general department, specializing in intellectual property and other business law practices, including negotiating licensing agreements, technology transfer agreements and other contracts. Better you than me, Margaret. Hometown girl made good, our Margaret. I noticed that she came from Cincinnati before gracing the Hanover Plain. Now she gets to catch Junior (Griffey) lighting up Riverfront Stadium. Life is full of its own rewards...

Straight from the pages of the SanFrancisco Chronicle's business section comes the news that James Feuille has taken over day-to-day management of the Prudential Volpe Technology Group. Jim is head of investment banking operations for Prudential Securities, which bought the former Volpe Brown Whelan investment bank recently. Seems that heavy-handed moves early on didn't generate a sense of trust. As a result, many of the employees Prudential most wanted to keep headed for the door. Insiders say that die el evation of Jim, who is (naturally) highly regarded, may have stabilized the situation. Let's hope so!

Word from Gail Frawley Granowitz is that "we'll be coming to the reunion with our daughters June, 7 1/2, and Emma, 6, who are exhibiting teenage characteristics in spite of being nowhere near the two-digit age group.

"We are still happy in Basking Ridge, a beautiful area of central New Jersey (yes, there are parts of New Jersey that bear no relation to the turnpike). I am a partner in a private anesthesia practice, and my husband, Craig, works at Schering-Plough, where he (unfortunately) travels all over the world, which is not anywhere near as glamorous as it seems, unless you think eating live shrimp for breakfast is glamorous." Amorous perhaps... Our ever hardworking reunion chair John Currier is determined to see a record number of us enjoying the festivities of our 20th in June. Do what you can to be there. It promises to be big fan, and surely wouldn't be the same without you.

And so, the time has come. It's been grand to have the stage, if only for a little while. Now we know what it's like to sweat the deadline, live like Mark Twain and search for dirt like Walter Winchell. We will miss it somehow and, who knows, perhaps we'll be back again someday...
