Campaign 2000 marches on. I Our own John Hoeven, president and CEO of Bank of North Dakota, is seeking the Republican endorsement to run tor governor of North Dakota. Running on a campaign platform of improvements in farm policy (e.g. legalizing "cow tipping"), John is calling on our federal government to "focus on long-term solutions which level the playing field in international markets, radier than die current 'disaster aid' approach." John and his wife, Mikey, have a daughter, a son, and a Web site at www.hoeven2000.com. All you North Dakotans should vote early and often.
Continental Airlines has named GeraldLaderman senior vice president, finance, responsible for fleet management, treasury, corporate finance and investor relations. Gerry's claim to fame is buying new aircraft at attractive interest rates. Gerry apparently has that www.priceline.com working lor him-and it got him a senior vice president's position. Cool.
Another e-mover and e-shaker among our classmates is David Crampton, who was recently named chief executive officer of Stamford, Conn.-based PC Flowers & Gifts.com Inc., a Web site for interactive flower and gift marketing. David's resume boasts of being the previous CEO of The School Report and also a consultant with McKinsey & Co. for seven years.
Speaking of consultants, if you picked up The New York Times or several other financial papers, you couldn't miss the full-page color photograph of Alistair Jessiman's giant head. I guess A1 is the poster boy for J.P. Morgan's private banking services (or was it Pepsodent toothpaste?). I'm sure the marriage proposals are streaming in.
Needing a break from the humdrum black-tie affairs in Boston, Libby Roberts found herself surrounded by tuxedoes of a different sort-penguins, lots of penguins. Libby recently had the pleasure of exploring Antarctica with Jonathan Shackleton (cousin to the famous Sir Ernest Shackleton) aboard the converted research vessel, the AkadernikShuleykin. Libs, bring pictures to reunions, OK?"
Buoyed by his success as treasurer of the class of '79, Bill "Bags" Mitchell has been appointed chief financial officer of Bigfoot Interactive, a leading provider of e-mail marketing solutions. Bags has been the "big dog" at Bigfoot for quite some time and is responsible for just about everything now.
Please forgive these "news bullets" but I've just about spent my creative juices as Jeffrey and I close out our five-year run as Class Notes columnists. To those that we've misquoted, misrepresented or otherwise made up stuff about, feel free to volunteer for the job if only to protect yourself. I hope everyone gets a chance to go out and buy a Jerry Jeff Walker CD, kick back and get pumped for renewing old friendships at our 20th in June. Try to get there. No regrets.
