Years may change, but the heart of '90 Notes remains the same: A note from rower/French-horn-player-turned surgeon Susan MacLennan has several marks of a model Class Notes entry—nuptials, travel, classmates working in health care and a chance '90 sighting. This past August marked the first anniversary of Sue's wedding to Mark Gabel near her family's home in Nova Scotia. Emergency-medicine specialist Hallie Brooks and pediatrician Elisabeth Kahl DiPietro attended from Albany and Boston, respectively, as did attorney Cris Infante Smith, who works as in-house counsel at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Sue reports: "Crazily enough, Mark and I ran into Dave Thut and his family while hiking the Cape Breton highlands in search of moose on our honeymoon." Sue and Mark have settled in Burlington, where Sue practices plastic and reconstructive surgery at UVM.

In other medical news, Peter Brown writes that he traveled through Europe for a month after completing his residency in neurosurgery and before entering private practice in Tacoma. He'd like to hear from other '9os in the Seattle/Portland area.

And, speaking of spontaneous '90

sightings, a classmate I knew before our arrival in Hanover managed to spot me during a recent TV appearance. New York markets analyst Stephanie Pomboy reflected on "the neck-breaking doubletake [she] did when tuning-in to my favorite show, Win Ben Stein's Money, to find [your secretary] as one of the contestants." It's true, folks: I took my knowledge of minutiae on the road to see if I could bring a tear to Mr. Clear Eyes himself. Unfortunately, I never had a chance to go mano-a-mano with Ferris Bueller's history teacher. I finished second of three challengers to Ben, eliminated from the final-round showdown—much to my chagrin—by a Brown alum.

In other big news, Kate Olsen and her part- ner, Emily Randall, welcomed their first child, Calvin Collamer Randall Olsen, on April 29. Par- ents and child live in Arlington, Massachusetts. Kate received her master of social work degree in 1994, and works with adolescent males in an in- tensive residential treatment program. Emily, also an M.S.W., stays at home with Calvin during the day and has a private practice in the evenings. They both add that motherhood is awesome.

That exhausts the mailbag for now, so please drop a line to share the latest news about yourselves, your families and your classmates.
