According to an article in TheBoston Globe, Belden G. Bly Jr., who served 32 years as a state representative, still maintains a fulltime law practice in Saugus, Massachusetts. Besides being a legislator and lawyer, Belden has been a teacher and coach of several sports at Saugus High School. Despite three heart attacks and about with throat cancer, he shows little sign of slowing down. He is now living in Wakefield, Massachusetts; his mother is 106 years old and living in Revere, Massachusetts.
John Adams has been found I talked with his daughter Mary Lee recently. John is alive and well in an assisted living center, Southgate, in his hometown of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
Aletter from Alan Boerker shares that his wife is in a nursing home and that the many things he has to do with her problem keep him close to home, missing his summer seasons in New Hampshire. A recent heart attack put him in the hospital for a week, but he has gradually worked his way back to normal!
From Highland Park, Illinois, Charlie Compton writes: 'After manyyears in Glencoe, I still do the same old thing—Rotary Club and church boards; helping a friend start up an auto repair business in Wisconsin; brought back a bull terrier from my daughter in California—now plenty of dog walking, cleanup and close quarters on my bed. Still unpacking treasures, trying to find room in a smaller house.. .managed to throw out some memorabilia but not much!"
We have lost six more members of our class: Bob Manegold on October 18, Roland Moody on September 14, Dick Webb on November 4, John Scotford on December 10, Harold Rasmussen on December 21 and vice president Jack Russell on December 30.
With the new schedule on the magazine, I want to be sure that I take every advantage to remind you of this years mini-reunion. I will be sending out my usual letters, but early reminders, I hope, will stir up interest. The dates: Friday and Saturday, September 28-29, 2001. The game: Pennsylvania. Meeting/meals, as in the past, will be in the Hanover Inn as of now, depending upon attendance! Twelve sleeping rooms have been reserved in the Holiday Inn (603-448-5070) located on the road to Lebanon just beyond the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Memorial Hospital.
