Bill Davis reports a successful hip replacement (does anyone not have something replaced?) and was back skiing and traveling (cruise to Tahiti and French Polynesia). Frank Munson alive and well in Darien, Connecticut, musing about a somewhat low grade in finance during the first year at Tuck, the irony being Franks highly successful career as chairman of the board of General Re Corp. Dick Holway is not a '49er, but many of you will remember him from Tuck School. Dickwas awarded a most deserving honorary degree at the Lasell College 15 oth graduation ceremony, thanking him for his long service as chairman of the board of trustees and instrumental work in guiding the financial success in the revitalization of that college. Win Wilson has been heard from way up there in the northwest corner. He has done some traveling to the sun but says that he totes so much medication there is hardly room for a bathing suit. He and C.C. are planning a trip to New England in the fall and we hope it will coincide with the minireunion. One more time, guys, and let s get it on your dance cards. Mini-reunion is the weekend of September 28-30 for the Penn game. Faculty lounge gathering, Hanover Inn banquet, Sunday with Punchy Thomas. What more would you want? Tell Punchy your plans at (802) 649-2100 or 449 Hogback Road, Norwich, VT 05055. Unfortunately, every column I do these days has to list some classmate deaths. I think we are in some kind of a zone, trapped by the calendar. So, sadly, here go some old friends: Charles "Arizona" Holtzman, the good doctor from Long Island; Pete Schumacher (Otto at Dartmouth), another fine member of the medical profession in Cleveland; and Dick Day, in Upton, Massachusetts, after a long bout with Parkinsons. Bill Chapman sent along a note suggesting that class dues might qualify for a matching gift through your employer or pension plan. Worthwhile to check that out, since '49 bananas could be useful. Think about how much beer that would have produced down at Tanzi's in about 1947. Reminder that the Tuck School reunion for the class of'so takes place September 21-23. Information will go out from Tuck. As I write this, the snow in the Hanover area is still better than knee high and the predictions for final melting are pretty far out. I remember a Green Key weekend way back when with the snow still under the eaves of the Alumni Gym and my guess is that this year will have shown it even later. Much discussion these days about both WW II and the Korean War, in which so many of the class served. I am thinking about some recognition for those who were decorated in either war, so how about sending me any information on that. A couple of months ago, I mentioned Ray Hammel, now deceased, who was awarded the Bronze Star for gallantry in Germany. Send me your details—or any other this and that you can think of.
