Thanks to Bill Marozas for some great scoop: "Thomas V.J. Stephens III and his wife, Marilynn, are the proud parents of a new baby girl named Sydney Jordan Stephens. Hint regarding the middle name: Tom is from Chicago and is a big Bulls fan. Kier Cooper has decided to leave his long-time position at Grenelefe Inc. to open his own carpet cleaning business in Tampa, Florida. The market for rug cleaning in Florida is apparently huge. Mark Lamarre is still working too much (investment banker), and will not make the reunion because he will be traveling that week. Loser. (Bill's word!) The following '86s gathered just outside of Orlando, Florida, this past March for the annual six-day Wood Memorial Golf Tournament and Reunion: C. Douglas Mitman, Craig Saltzgaber, Victor Paul, Larry Patton, A.J. Conley, Matt Landa, Bob Rech, Greg Lesko, Matt Burke, Tim Casey, Len Fontes, Kier Cooper, Tom Stephens, Diarmuid O'Connell, Tom Pennekamp and Rob Ricciardelli. Greg Lesko's "Team Bunkers" handily defeated C.Douglas Mitman's "Team Bull Elephant" in the four-day Ryder Cup format competition. Kudos to C. Douglas Mitman, who was named Most Valuable Player (MVP), while Matt Landa garnered the Least Valuable Player (LVP) award. Amini 'B6 reunion was held in Burlingame, California, this April at the home of Mike and Bonnie (Kramer) Tonneson. Bill and Susie (Law) Hizar, Karen Blodgett and yours truly were fortunate enough to attend. Sam Zales, who was working only 10 minutes away from Chez Tonneson that day, chose not to attend in person. He did dial in via video conference from the airport (SFO), however. Touching. By the time this gets to print, Phil Tombaugh will have successfully run the Boston Marathon. Phil resides in Hartford, Connecticut, with his wife, Jenn. He works at Proton Energy Systems.
Dave Magrier moved his family to Tucson in April. He accepted a product manager position with Rain Bird. Ted Farrell Eden is now director of the multicultural center at Hanover College, where he has been teaching for 10 years. His responsibilities include managing exchange programs with universities in France, Germany, Mexico, Spain, Belgium, Nepal, Australia, Turkey and Alabama (huh?). Plus, he offers support for on-campus international and American minor- ity students. Ted taught a course in Belize this May. He explored the relationship of tropical biology with Belizean folklore, literature, music and dance. His daughter Fiona (4) is a ballerina. Son Silas (18 months) is aspiring to talk with the animals like Rex Harrison. Gary Johnson welcomed his second son, August Joseph, on April 5. He weighed in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces and was welcomed by his 2-year old brother Carlo. Gary is now in Houston working as a power trader for El Paso Merchant Energy. Jeffrey Morrison and his wife, Kate, welcomed Bryn Aracela in the spring. Jeffrey teaches history and art history at Greens Farms Academy, which continues to send a significant number of its top students to Dartmouth. Michael Geiss was married to TinaTaggart on July 21 in Syracuse. The couple lives in Syracuse, and Michael is an ophthalmologist in a private practice. John Hueston was elevated from assistant U.S. attorney to chief of the Orange County branch of the U.S. Attorneys Office in California. He prosecuted a number of high-profile federal cases in southern California during the past few years, most recently obtaining a conviction of a local Santa Ana city council mem- ber on charges of political corruption and money laundering. In November Debra (Rudich) Smul was promoted to senior vice president, corporate development, of Oxygen Media. Formerly vice president, chairman's office, Debra is responsible for developing and managing corporate-wide initiatives that support the company's strategic and growth goals. Debra, husband Peter, an executive at the NBA, and their 3-year old twins Jack and Lucie live in Westchester County.
