After a five week stretch of illnessI was released from our local health-care sectionto resume living in my Luther Crestapartment. I had a substantial loss of weight, butthe plethora of tests couldn't come up with anythingthreatening that move. In that five-weekstretch I was subjected to our local physical andoccupational therapy to get me ready to play everyhole in our Air Products retirees Spring Golftournament. I didn't cover myself with glory butI had a great time, and plan to play in the fall tournament on September 13.
I kept up with writing obituaries and class notes for DAM, got a new walker and feel great. I told Ed Brummer that I'll be glad to continue as class secretary unless someone else volunteers to take over—an unlikely prospect, I'm told.
The drive from here to Hanover, and back, to attend our 70th was just too much for this 92-year-old. I read with great interest Margaret Bean s Thirty-One Up with the report on Jack Benson. My 13-year-old granddaughter is researching Dartmouth's entrance for admission practices on the Internet. Because of the loss of Rose McCarthy, Hank McCarthy's son Hankjr. is doing his best to call or write to say hello to classmates who were in contact with Hank and his family over the years. My last count shows we're down to about 80 living classmates for whom we have mailing addresses. To lighten things up a bit Ed Brummer sent me a copy of the musical score of "Eleazar Wheelock," which was much appreciated. Keep the faith.
