We received this information via a nice letter titled "Spring Break 1927" from W.B. "Barney" McCray. We include the first half here; look for the second half in the next issue of DAM.

"Frank Sullivan and I decided that we had enough of the New Hampshire winter, and we would head south until we got warm. My Model T Ford had been stored in an open shed back of the Norwich Inn since Thanksgiving, but we had no difficulty getting it road-worthy. I had to get it licensed in Lebanon, and get a New Hampshire drivers license, and we were ready to take off. We spent the first night with some friends in New Haven, but didn't engage in much revelry as we wanted to get an early start the next morning. The trip into New York was uneventful. We located what was then called the Dartmouth Club. My memory is not clear, but I would guess that it was an old brown-front, on about 34th Street just west of Third Avenue. (Someone with a better memory can set me right.) I do recall that the rate was $1 per night. We left the 'T' on the street; there were no restrictions in those days.

"We wanted to see some shows, and we did just that. Four shows in two days and nights; we were able to find two matinees to fit into the schedule. One of them was Yours Truly with Leon Errol, he of the rubber legs. Marian—or was it Mildred—Harris sang the featured song 'Someone to Watch Over Me.' One of the shows was a revue, featuring Bobby Clark and Paul McCullough, one of the greatest comedy teams of all time. Buddy Ebsen and his sister did a country clog number. Buddy is just a year older than I, so he has spent a long time in the theater. One of the shows starred Bea Lillie (could it have been No, No, Nannette?) and the fourth one was with Gertrude Lawrence. What a program!" Rip writes:

"Dartmouth is well, that's our conclusion.

For we have Jim Wright, and he has Susan."
