I hope by the time you read these Class Notes, it will be old news. After all, our reunion is, as I write this, only a little more than a month away. Nevertheless, I must press on!
Three births to report. Kevin Kruse and Roz Fahey Kruse welcomed their son, Devin, into the world back on November 18. They all continue to live on the Upper East Side of New York, where Kevin says Devin is developing into quite the city baby: "He sleeps right through the endless cacophony of ambulance sirens and horns, and the bus stop five floors below his window." Roz is a corporate lawyer at Willkie, Farr & Gallagher, while Kevin recently joined Warburg Pincus, a private equity firm.
Jason and Julie Cillo sent me pictures and an announcement about their new daughter, Hanna Elizabeth, who was born February 19. Finally, Cindy Long and her husband, Jason Sindler, were blessed with Elizabeth "Ellie" Zelina Sindler on April 7. They remain in Denver for now, where Cindy has a very busy practice in obstetrics and gynecology.
From proud parents to a proud husband: Jon Jackson sent a story about his wife, whom we all know as Gretchen Roush Jackson, and her role in successfully prosecuting a military woman accused of drowning her two children. The story overall was disturbing, as you might imagine, but Gretchen's role was prominent (she was all over the story) and it must have been an amazing experience for a lawyer!
Got an article from the Idaho Business Review (I ask you, where do they find this stuff?), and among that publications "40 Accomplished Business Leaders Under Forty" was Wendy Alexander! She is director of marketing, analysis and operations at Capital One in Boise, as well as president-elect of Idaho Foodbank.
Ed Hopkins sent a quick e-mail to tell me he was granted admissions to Thayer's M.S. program with professor Minh Phan, studying nonlinear dynamics and control, once again giving me the feeling that I was in over my head during my four years on the Plain. Thanks, Ed.
A cry for help, please. I got a note from an anonpnous, unsigned classmate. This classmate left Illinois College of Medicine and got a Ph.D. in sociology at Penn in 2001, then became a research fellow at Harvard and was currendy looking for jobs related to research on audience diversity in the museum world. This classmate also sent word about Lakshmi Lewis, who was proposed to by Keitric Emory on The Ananda LewisShow. Lewis...Lewis...yes, Lakshmi is the sister of Ananda, the MTV-host-turned-talk-show-host. Crazy. Aisha Tyler, if you panned this episode on Talk Soup, you owe Lakshmi an apology! In any case, Lakshmi is a senior resident in family practice at Rush Presbyterian-Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago and will ring in 2003 with her wedding. Anonymous classmate—and you know who you are—step forward at reunion! And thank you!!!
