May the warmth of spring-now-summer be with you!
Some of our noble brothers have checked in since last I wrote, beginning with Peter Heed, recently confirmed by the New Hampshire Executive Council as the states newest attorney general. Peter says this brings him full circle, having begun a career in law over 27 years ago as a homicide prosecutor hired by then Attorney General Warren Rudman and Deputy AG David Souter. Gee, Peter, how about some names we've heard of?
Peter goes on to lament that rugby has taken a back seat to work and family of late, save a few "Old Boys" games. Countering this disappointment is his continued participation in marathon canoe racing. Now fellows, I didn't play rugby but I am quite familiar with the sport. At 50-plus years of age, which activity would you posit our bodies would support longer?
Family related, Peter has two sons who are avid skiers, one in aerial freestyle, the other in Nordic and biathalon. His wife, Tricia, continues to enjoy teaching elementary school students. Sounds like a great life, Peter! They hang their hats, skis and rugby shorts in Westmoreland, New Hampshire, overlooking the Connecticut River.
Bill Schur greets us with: "Stop the presses! At the last reunion my wife bought a dining room table from Dwight Sargent's company, Pompanoosuc Mills. We're still waiting for Dwight s class of '72 rebate. Where is it, Dwight? Serious- ly, the table is outstanding and gives our family pleasure every night at dinner. It's just beautiful, even at full price! Bob Jeffe's smiling face appears in the annual report of General Electric, where he is the vice president of corporate business development. We own a handful of shares. Perhaps we can send our two sons Robert and Danny to Dartmouth on the strength of GE stock. Get busy, Bob! "Thanks, Bill!
Also via Bill, Jim Stearns says hello from D.C., where he is the senior partner in charge of the Halloran and Sage office. The firm is well established in Hartford, Connecticut, with Jim bringing in their D.C. business. And Dan Cooperman, father of Jeff 'O6, visited Bill accompanied by wife Linda and younger son Justin. Dan is chief legal officer with Oracle Corp.; all are happy and healthy!
Jack Curley checks in from Leominster, Massachusetts, where he, too, plies the legal profession. Jack and Bill chatted recently supposedly about a case but more likely about their days at Pi Lam. Well, fellows, the new owners have really spruced the place up but it'll never be the same!
Kudos to Dick Donahue, recently named one of the top insurance defense lawyers in Chicago by a respected trade publication. He sends his best! And finally for this installment, Bill Pollock has just become a certified mediator, adding "I plan to do business mediation after being in business for the last 20 years. I've moved to Austin, where music, art and outdoors life is the best in Texas (golf, too.)"
Be well and be Green 'til we meet again!
