41 Oute choes the call from the Hanover hills and the loyal sons of Dartmouth respond to the call for an October reunion. Big Chief Steve Winship and his squaw, Lucy, led the parade and followed the trail as marked by Vic and Bobbie Schneider. A Friday night powwow was held at the Norwich Inn, where 32 hardies gathered for spirited palaver, feasting and firewater. Grant Hesser and Joanie were seen in the flickering firelight as they headed back to North Carolina. Cam Farmer and Kim arrived from Muskegon, Michigan, and Jack and Penny Waring checked in from Winston Salem, North Carolina. Bruce Friedlich, a peripatetic traveler often seen in Santa Fe, New Mexico, arrived from Shelter Island, New York, with his wife, Karla, and their 3-month-old puppy. Also present were ex-Big Chief Don Stillman and Pat, who had arranged a Florida mini on March 16 and 17. And a delightful guest maiden was Stephanie Owen 'O4, who is the granddaughter of Bob Krieger (deceased) and the 41 scholarship recipient.
Gene Stollerman, chief medicine man and BU professor emeritus, is still teaching medical subjects at Dartmouth. Another medicine man is Chip Deming, who, with wife Vida, played host to the October class meeting. Other Hanoverites in attendance were three-year resident Gerry Collier and long-time volunteers at the Dartmouth-Hitch-cock Medical Center, Bill and Jean Hotaling. Keeper of the class wampum, Unc Richardson, was on hand from the Boston area, and Carl Krogh was another arrival from the Bay Colony.
John and Pudge White were happy attendees from New Jersey, while Stu Hicks and wife Jo Jo were enjoying marital bliss for the second time around. They inhabit teepees at West Palm Beach and North Carolina. A long time no see'um was Bob Frondorf ("He Who Kicks Round Ball") and his wife, Joan, who made the great travel from West Chester, Pennsylvania, accompanied by their son, Steve '71. A brave couple in many ways was Bill and Millie Steel, who are now living on their daughters horse farm in Plainfield, New Hampshire, as Bill gamely fights his health problem from a wheelchair. Blessings on them and all other 41s who are in need.
