We have heard about the University School. Located in Cleveland, Ohio, it graduated 16 seniors in 1936 into the class of 1940. The headmaster was proud, but he felt at least one could have applied to another ivy school! Who were the class of 1940 University School students? Ten have died:

Elmer Browne—Merck & Company Inc., mainly international, eight years in U.K. and Europe; economics; Phi Kappa Psi; Phi Beta Kappa; Casque & Gauntlet; Palaeopitus; Green Key; class treasurer; Dartmouth Outing Club, president; Winter Carnival, chairman; Cabin & Trail; freshman track.
Dan Conway—left after freshman year, died as a flight instructor for Air Force.

Herb Foster—Cleveland heavy machinery manufacturing and insurance; economics; PhiKappa Psi.
Dick Goulder—left after junior year; joined brother in plastic moulding company; class agent; class executive committee; class secretary.
Dan Harris—worked at Case Observatory, Cleveland; died at time of WW II; mathematics; Sigma Alpha Epsilon; Senior Fellow; freshman golf; varsity golf, manager.
