Compliments to Ike Weed on taking over Les Nichols' job of writing the 1940 Indian Drum. The June issue has lots of most interesting info about our class. If you have not gotten a copy, let Ike or me know your address or fax number and we will see that you get one.

Those of you who receive class e-mail have already heard of Jack Faunce's passing on May 7. He was our most diligent secretary and received the Dartmouth Class Secretary of the Year Award in 2003. His obit appears in this issue. Al Thorpe will be the future author of this column, and Dona Faunce will continue all other secretarial duties. We also note the death of Creighton Holden on March 17. If you have not been receiving recent email, and wish to, please e-mail your new address to: jay@hfff.org.

Interesting demographics (as of May 17): The 169 living members of 1940 inhabit 32 states. The largest number, 23, abide in California; 21 in Florida; and 17 in Massachusetts. HFFF is the signature of Flospitality for Family and Friends, my newest volunteer program helping to find pro bono hotel rooms for one or two nights for people visiting patients in New York hospitals. Visitation helps boost patient moral and speeds recovery. Six hundred fifty nights have been found for financially needy people referred by hospital social workers.
