Richard Merrill, Houston, Texas, native, continues to reside in that metropolis and is actively involved in the law firm Fabio & Merrill. He has been focusing on civil litigation along with wills and probate since turmoil in the oil and gas industry has limited that practice area, while his partner and wife Thea emphasizes family law. In his spare time Richard hunts deer, turkey and imported exotic species such as Asian elephants; he also skis and hikes. He is active in the Dartmouth Lawyers Association, serving as one of several vice presidents and enjoyed this winters February meeting in South Lake Tahoe, where we had a chance to catch up.
The new Alumni Council president is Rick Routhier, so it is especially important that all classmates pay attention to Alumni Council activities this year. Rick has been active on a number of the councils committees, such as college relations, alumni organization and nominating. When not occupied with Dartmouth matters, he works for Spencer Stuart, a global executive search firm, providing executive search consulting services for a wide range of U.S. clients, with a particular emphasis on media and consumer goods and financial services companies. Before joining Spencer Stuart, Rick spent 16 years with PepsiCo. His wife, Sarah, has a busy gastroenterology practice in the New Canaan, Connecticut, area.
Although he now resides in and operates a recording studio in Colorado Springs, John Standish came to Dartmouth from Greenwich High School, and returned to Connecticut earlier this year to join former classmates in honoring their high school choral director, Ray Malone. Mr. Malone continued to advise John during his freshman year adjustment to college, as well as mentor other former students in their post-secondary school lives. A scholarship has been established to honor the retired educator.
Former chief prosecutor of the Essex County, Massachusetts, sexual assault and child abuse unit, Bill Fallon is now a regular panelist for MSNBC on The Adams Report and similar programs. In recent months Bill has offered his lawyerly insights based on his prosecutorial experience on topics such as the rehabilitation of sexual offenders and the successes/failures of Megan's laws, the Kobe Bryant consensual sex or not case, the Scott Peterson wife and child murder trial and the saga of Michael Jackson's activities at Neverland Ranch.
Peter Saccio, the Leon D. Black ('73) Professor of Shakespearean Studies was in the San Francisco Bay Area to celebrate Shakespeare's birthday and present an alumni seminar. With captivating eloquence underscoring his extensive knowledge, attending his "Brush Up Your Shakespeare" seminar is like turning back the clock to junior year and an example of why Dartmouth has its excellent reputation for undergraduate education., .and long ago I forgave Professor Saccio for commencing my first Shakespeare class with, "Good morning, gentlemen."
Did anyone note in the closing scene of the premier of Grey'sAnatomy that the lead female intern was wearing a Dartmouth T-shirt?
Enjoy the remains of summer! Feel free to send a newsy postcard from your favorite vacation locale.
