Lots of news to report from the '01 class; thanks to everyone who sent in updates.
Starting with our classmates living abroad, Georges Dyer returned to Sweden to continue his work with Strategic Leadership Toward Sustainability. There's a chance he may run into Kristin Luckenbill, who is also in Sweden playing soccer for the next few months. Andrew Trief spent two years traveling and one year writing a book about his adventures (Voices of Wanderlust) and is now settling in Israel. After almost five years in London Deirdre Brenner moved to Vienna to study piano at the Vienna Conservatory. Pete Leckerling graduated from UCSD with a masters degree in international management and will be relocating to Shanghai. And finally, Joe Mclntyre returned to Mongolia, where he is teaching English.
Other 'ois moving around include Josh Holman, who is living in Denver, and Basil Kim, who recently moved to New York City to attend Brooklyn Law School. Paul Biggs is living in Portland; get in touch if you want a tour of the local microbreweries. Daniel Merl finished his Ph.D. in applied math and statistics at UC Santa Cruz and is beginning a visiting faculty appointment in the math department at Cornell.
Alexander Grishman graduated from Cardozo Law School and will be practicing law in Manhattan. He recently got engaged to his high school sweetheart, Debbie Dorman (Cornell '01). Brad Crevier completed his M.B.A. and master's of accounting, which are two of the three graduate degrees he has been pursuing at Northeastern University; he is scheduled to receive his J.D. in spring 2007. Also in Boston, Patrick Rowe will enroll in a graduate degree program in real estate development at MIT this fall. John "Jota" Bullen Jr. is beginning the second year of his Ph.D. program in biochemistry and molecular biology at Johns Hopkins University. Damon Austin will begin his first year ofbusiness school at the John Anderson School of Business atUCLAthis fall. Ben Hilliker just started his first year of medical school at the University of Massachusetts, where he will join third-year student Chris Tully.
The recent Ray Greiche show in New York City was well attended by Dartmouth alumni, including Lynne Grossman, Alissa Golden, Kristin Verdiani, Roxanne O'Hara, Chris O'Hara, Ryan Heiberg, Lindsay Reich, LaCary Sharpe, Kate Mattern, Carrie Hoverman, Ki Mae Heussner, Katie Reyna and '02s Caitlin Murphy, Erin McKay and Conner McGee.
Erin Maxwell continues her campaign for a spot on the 2008 Olympic sailing team (for updates on her progress, please visit www.470teamusa.com). Chad Goodridge is in a new music production at the Berkeley (California) Repertory Theatre called Passing Strange. Cheryl Peyser received her masters degree in geology and moved to South Carolina to teach high school science.
On the engagement and wedding front, Kathryn Kempf and Dan Burke were married in Cape Cod in July; Rafael Rosengarten and Robin Levine are engaged to be married in July 2007 in New York City after Rafael proposed on a December trip to the Upper Valley; Mike Byrne was recently engaged to Kelly Tufts; Shira Reiss is engaged to her high school boyfriend Max Krance; Matt Deninger and Amy Salomon got engaged in Paris; John Lutz and Emily Nytko were married in July; Connie Jones was married to Stephen Gonzalez in a civil ceremony in El Salvador; Susan Feakins and Avi Masry were married in New York City this summer; Shelley Sandell and Chris Allen were married in July.
